Product information

Combined selector valve for swimming pool filters

The Ø50 and 1½″ mixed-flow selector valve It is a six-way side valve designed to control the various operations of a swimming pool filtration system.

Its mixed configuration allows the outlets leading to the filter to be connected via Ø50 mm glued pipework, whilst the connections for the hydraulic circuit feature a 1½″ thread. This combination makes it easy to integrate into installations where both types of connection are used.

Six operating positions – Ø50 and 1½″ mixed-service selector valve

The valve allows you to select the circuit’s main functions:

Filtration

Position used during normal pool operation. The water passes through the filter before returning to the pool.

Washing

Reverse the flow through the filter to remove any dirt that has accumulated in the filter media.

Rinse

It is used after backwashing to settle the filter media and prevent debris from returning to the pool.

Recirculation

It allows the water to return to the pool without passing through the filter media.

Draining

It directs the water towards the drain without returning it to the glass.

Closed

It stops the flow of water through the valve.

These six items are expressly listed on the current product information sheet.

Mixed connections: Ø50 mm and 1½″

The term ‘hybrid’ refers to its two connection systems:

Connection areaType
Connections to the filterØ50 mm, for gluing
Connections to the circuit1½″ thread

This configuration must be checked before replacing an existing valve. In addition to the diameter, the position and the distance between the filter connections must be checked.

Durable materials for swimming pool installations

The body is made from ABS and uses EPDM seals. The fastenings are made from AISI 316L stainless steel, a material specified in the technical data sheet for installations using salt chlorination. It also features a polycarbonate sight glass that allows the flow of water to be observed during certain maintenance operations.

Maximum working pressure

The maximum pressure specified for the valve is 3.5 kg/cm². The installation must operate within the specified limits and be protected against overpressure.

Compatibility

The valve can be used in filters and systems compatible with:

  • Side mounting.
  • Connections to the Ø50 mm filter for gluing.
  • 1½″ threaded hydraulic circuit.
  • Distance and arrangement of matching outlets.

A valve should not be regarded as a universal fit simply because it has the same diameter. Before placing an order, the dimensions and geometry must be compared with those of the existing valve or the filter to be installed.

Installation recommendations

Before assembly, it is recommended that you check:

  1. The lateral position of the valve.
  2. The distance between the filter connections.
  3. The external diameter of the gluing holes.
  4. The type and pitch of the threads.
  5. The purpose of each connection.
  6. The condition of the joints.
  7. The operating pressure of the system.
  8. The space available for operating the lever.

Installation must be carried out by a qualified professional. As a precaution, the position of the valve must not be changed whilst the pump is running; this instruction must also be confirmed in the relevant manual before it is published as an official product instruction.

Maintenance

It is recommended that you check the following regularly:

  • The condition of the joints.
  • The tightness of the connections.
  • How the lever works.
  • The fastenings.
  • The liquid level indicator.
  • The occurrence of leaks.
  • The build-up of dirt inside.

A water leak from the valve does not always mean that the entire assembly needs to be replaced. Depending on the fault, it may be necessary to check the star seal, the cover, the shaft or the connection seals.
