Product information

Standard lamp holders for swimming pool lighting installations

The standard swimming pool lamp holder is designed to house and secure the lamp in an underwater lighting system. It can be used in concrete, fibreglass and liner pools, particularly for replacement work where the existing recess remains compatible and is in good condition.

It is supplied without a bulb, allowing the installer to select the appropriate lighting solution for each project separately.

Suitable for replacements and refurbishments

This lamp holder is particularly useful when you need to replace the front cover of a spotlight without automatically having to replace the recessed housing in the swimming pool.

Before placing your order, we recommend that you check:

  • The diameter of the existing recess.
  • The position and spacing of the screws.
  • The fastening system.
  • The available depth.
  • The diameter of the lamp you wish to install.
  • The condition of the joints and the wiring.
  • Compatibility with the existing trim.

The term “standard” should not be interpreted as meaning universal compatibility with any installation.

For concrete, fibreglass and liner pools

The product can be used with different types of glass:

  • Concrete swimming pools

It can be used as a replacement in installations that have a compatible standard recess.

  • Polyester swimming pools

This allows you to replace the lamp holder whilst retaining the rest of the installation, provided the dimensions and fixings match.

  • Liner pools

It can be used in pools lined with a liner, provided that the recess, the joints and the fixing system are suitable for this type of lining.

Trypool describes the product as suitable for concrete, fibreglass and liner pools.

Made from ABS with UV protection

The body is made from high-strength ABS and has been treated to reduce deterioration caused by exposure to sunlight.

The stainless steel fastenings help to improve the assembly’s resistance to the conditions typically found in a swimming pool.

Product for swimming pools with salt chlorination

The Trypool product information sheet states that the lamp holder can be used in swimming pools with salt chlorination.

To ensure the product is maintained correctly, the water parameters must be kept within the recommended ranges for the installation, and the fastenings, seals and condition of the ABS must be checked regularly.

Supplied without a bulb – Standard pool bulb holder

This product includes the lamp holder and the mounting fittings specified by Trypool, but does not include the lamp.

The lamp must be selected separately after checking:

  • Compatible dimensions.
  • The operating voltage.
  • Power.
  • The type of light.
  • The control system.
  • Compatibility with the existing transformer.

The available documentation does not clearly identify a single compatible range of lamps. For this reason, compatibility must be checked before placing an order.

Professional installation

Installation must be carried out by qualified personnel whilst the power supply is switched off.

Before assembly, the following must be checked:

  1. The niche must be clean and in good condition.
  2. Make sure the fixings line up with the lamp holder.
  3. Ensure that the joints are not warped or damaged.
  4. Ensure that the cable is free from cuts, moisture or corrosion.
  5. Ensure that the chosen light fitting can be fitted correctly.
  6. Ensure that all screws are tightened evenly.

The lampholder must not be forced into a recess with different dimensions or fixings.

Recommended maintenance

When carrying out lighting checks, you should check the following:

  • ABS body status.
  • Presence of cracks or deformations.
  • Condition of the fasteners.
  • Tightening the screws.
  • Condition of gaskets and sealing components.
  • Cable entry.
  • Presence of moisture.
  • Compatibility and secure fitting of the installed lamp.

Where cracks, deformation or advanced corrosion are detected, the affected component must be replaced.
