Product information

Basic test kit for measuring pH and chlorine

The pH and chlorine test kit for swimming pools It is used to measure the chlorine and pH levels in swimming pool water.

Measuring these two parameters is essential for keeping the water in good condition. When the pH or chlorine level falls outside the recommended ranges, this can affect the comfort of bathers, the water quality and the components of the facility.

Simple operation

To carry out the analysis:

  1. Take a water sample from as deep a point as possible using the measuring cylinder provided.
  2. Add the number of drops of each reagent specified in the instruction manual.
  3. Wait for the sample to change colour.
  4. Compare the colour obtained with the corresponding colour chart.
  5. Check the pH level and the chlorine level separately.

It is important to follow the recommended number of drops and the procedure given in order to obtain an accurate reading.

Chlorine measurement

Chlorine helps to keep the water disinfected and to control the growth of bacteria and algae.

According to the latest product information, the recommended value is between 0.6 and 1.5. Excessive chlorine levels can cause skin and eye irritation. Conversely, levels below the recommended level can encourage the growth of bacteria, algae and green water.

pH measurement

The pH indicates whether the water is acidic or alkaline.

The data sheet sets out a range of recommended values of 7.4 to 7.6. A high pH can cause the water to become cloudy and reduce the effectiveness of chlorine. A low pH can increase the corrosiveness of the water and affect the pool’s components.

The kit contains the reagents in containers of 15 ml. When they run out, they can be replaced with the compatible Otto and Phenol refills, which are available separately.
